Yoga and Walking Weekend for Women: Enjoying the outdoors is about having a balanced body, good mental focus and the curiosity to explore and enjoy nature. This weekend has three very different kinds of walk in one of the most stunning locations in the UK, coupled with four yoga classes. With creative and personable tuition, we’re combining stunning landscapes to walk in with input on nature and the space to develop yourself physically and mentally through the positive role of yoga. Element is delighted to be collaborating with The Sports Ashram for this new and unique Yoga and Walking Weekend.
The content of the weekend is fine-tuned for you to be able to work at your own level and no previous yoga experience is necessary.
The walks are structured for you to be able to physically work at your own level: they are not ‘keep up with the leader’ in a crocodile file at all – we make things much more interesting for you than that!
Weekend content: The weekend will begin on Saturday at 9am and end on Sunday between 4.30pm and 5pm.
Kirsten and Jack are very experienced yoga professionals who have a very ‘feet-on-the-ground’ approach to the discipline – they both work with the active body on the complementary aspect of the physical and the mental elements of yoga.
Our walks will be varied, taking us through woodland, wild, open uplands and to some of the Black Mountain summits. One will be a guided nature walk, focusing on the importance of biodiversity and how to create land that supports this. The focus of the walking will be on exploration, learning, appreciation and looking – and we hope that it will get you engaged.
There will be a chance for you to give feedback, discuss and ask questions.
Who is the weekend for? This is a tutored weekend aimed at any active, open-minded women who are keen to explore and who would like to find some space to do so. It is for women who are interested in learning, who enjoy the outdoors, who are interested in nature and who are keen to build a strong, flexible, healthy body and mind.
Where: We will be based at Llwyn Celyn, a historic 15th-century house recently restored by the Landmark Trust and sited at the southern end of the spectacular Llanthony Valley in the hills. We will use Llwyn Celyn’s light and airy, beautifully restored barn for yoga and we will be able to head directly from the venue for all our walking routes. The postcode is NP7 7NE.
Accommodation: Because accommodation is such a personal matter, we find it works better for people to choose where they would like to stay. Over the years, we have built up a directory of trusted accommodation in the area, from yurts to shepherd’s huts, from farmhouse B&Bs to top-end luxury hotels, catering for all budgets. We’ll send you the list on booking.
Llwyn Celyn, our venue, has a basic budget bunkhouse, which can sleep 12 people. It’s nicely done, modern communal accommodation with the use of kitchen, showers and your own single bed – you would need to bring bedding and pillow. The bunkhouse is available Friday and Saturday night at £15 a night (please indicate if you wish to book this on the booking form).
There is also the possibility to wild camp at no charge – Ruth has a field nearby with very basic facilities. Similarly, the parking of a camper van can be arranged.
You are free to cook at Llwyn Celyn on Saturday evening, as there is a kitchen. There are also places to eat nearby. We will be happy to advise.
