If you like the idea of being able to run in the mountains but have never started then this will be the perfect day for you.
This day is about much more than simply running up and down hills. There are 3 indoor and 3 outdoor sessions and we cover confidence and challenge in its widest sense. And, most importantly, you work at your own chosen level and we help you to find your ‘off road feet’. .
We are two highly experienced top women fell runners who are passionate about getting more women to enjoy this sport and to the wonders of ‘getting off the tarmac’. Both of us have competed internationally and have been involved with fell running for many years and… we both just love being out in the hills. We will facilitate a well-structured, confidence-building day introducing you to fell running.
Fell running is exhilarating: leave your world-worries behind, be out in nature, have a view, feel the elements and be away from the traffic. We think when you’ve tried it that you won’t want to go back to the tarmac! We help you find your confidence – build on your strengths and not let any weaknesses dominate.
We will start at 9.30 am taking you through various elements of fell running in a well-planned day. There will be practical outdoor sessions as well as indoor seminars.
There’s the chance to deal with your insecurities and help you to work on your perceived weaknesses as well as giving you some enthusiastic ‘can-do’ attitude.
Covering technique, mental approach, fitness and confidence in a well-planned day, there will also be chance look at kit and touch on nutrition as well as how to find out about races.
All ages are welcome and all abilities. And rest assured, this is not a day about ‘eyeballs out’ speed, discomfort or running straight up a mountain as soon as you arrive! You work at your chosen pace and it is not a competitive day.
We imagine that you will have done some running and that you are able to jog 5k continuously as minimum. The speed doesn’t matter. This is not a day for elite athletes.
You’ll be given a checklist of what to bring when you book. Drinks will be provided and the use of a kitchen – you will need to bring lunch and snacks.
We will be based in the beautiful village of LLanbedr in the heart of the Black Mountains (Postcode NP8 1SR) between Table Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain with stunning views across the Usk valley.
It is approximately 1 hr to Bristol and 45 minutes to Cardiff.
