A weekend for busy, discerning, appreciative women to actively recharge in the stunning location of Treberfydd House in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Overlooking Llangorse lake and nestled between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, this is a specially crafted Element weekend of walking fascinating landscape and talking about nature. A warm welcome in beautiful surroundings, you’ll have your own bedroom and bathroom. It is an all-inclusive weekend with quality food and all drink provided. There’s also an option to book your own accommodation if you prefer to stay independently. And there’s a good massage included too – it’s our de-luxe end of the spectrum.
This new weekend is all about immersing yourself in a beautiful house in a beautiful landscape and engaging with this and its wider environment.
We know our areas intimately and our two long walks explore the ecology, history and atmosphere of the Brecon Beacons. Creatively led and raising interesting questions for you, we do much more than simply cover the miles. You will walk by the wonderfully wild River Usk, encounter rare ancient trees, see an Iron Age hill fort, wild ponies and sweeping mountain vistas. Listen to how a local farmer and landowner is encouraging biodiversity; hear about a year on Llangorse Lake, a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), which is a haven for wildlife and birds; see interesting gardens and understand more about the land… These are just some of the details that form part of the fabric of this active weekend. Expect to walk about 8-10 miles a day weaving hills, lake and river landscapes – when we find something interesting we stop and chat – the days are about a good walk but covering miles is not our sole objective! And, of course, we always finish with tea and cake.
Treberfydd must be in one of the most stunning locations in the UK. Occupied by the Raikes family since it was built in the 1840s and still lived in and run by the family today, nearly all the original features of this Grade I-listed, Victorian gothic house remain: elaborately carved stone fireplaces, glazed tiles as well as Robert Raikes’ extensive library which remains untouched. The house overlooks Llangorse Lake and has wonderful grounds with views of the mountains. There is also a walled garden. The whole house and grounds are ours for the weekend.
Why: Quite simply, we’re offering this new weekend because we love spending time with passionate people who work closely with the fragility and beauty of nature and open our eyes a little more widely. This weekend is about connecting and engaging with the outdoors more deeply and is more than simply covering the miles and eating a packed lunch. It’s about human health and the health of ecosystems being inseparable. We want you to leave enriched, well-exercised, rested and perhaps most importantly, inspired.
“Another world is not only possible, she’s on the way and on a quiet day, if you listen very carefully you can hear her breathe.” Arundhati Roy.
Accommodation: Two nights’ accommodation: Friday and Saturday are included. You’ll have your own beautiful large room and your own bathroom as well as full use of the extensive house and gardens. It’s a wonderful location to unwind, explore, re-centre, relax as well as socialise.
We have 12 rooms available: all are double or twin rooms but we give you the luxury of your own space on this weekend.
If you wish to book without accommodation – there are several places to stay close by, there is a booking option for this.
Food: All food and drink are included on this weekend. The food will be locally sourced where possible, fresh and of high quality. There’ll be a light supper when you arrive on Friday
All alcohol is included in the weekend. There will be teas and coffee available throughout the weekend. Dinner on Saturday will be catered at Treberfydd in the lovely dining room – exceptional food shared in good company.
