Description: To enjoy your running you need to sustain a resilient, flexible and fit body AND a good mental approach to this. Overtraining, over-racing and a resistance to making changes we often run ourselves to injury. This day is about taking a look at ourselves as runners and how we attend to our bodies and support ourselves to injury free running. A combination of indoor and outdoor sessions with three specialists, the day aims to make you more aware of the importance of balancing and supporting yourself to enhance a continued enjoyment of running.
We focus on quality, evidence and information.
A central session of the day focuses on practical conditioning work for runners taken by an expert.
A GP will be discussing new research into pain.
We have another specialist presenting on soft tissue work.
Via a presentation, we look at mental approach and resilience and unhelpful pitfalls that we are all pulled towards.
Repetitive movements over time lead to stress and injury. Yoga can help create more resilience in the system as it gets the whole body moving through different planes and ranges of mobility. It is therefore a ‘nutritious’ complement to running, which will give your body a longer ‘running life’. We look in detail at this and evidenced based material with a practical session to understand the detail.
The aim of the day is getting you to think more ‘holistically’ about your body.
Please note: This is a day for men and women and for ALL running abilities. It is a non-competitive day and you work at your chosen level.
Specialists in their chosen field take each session.
You’ll find a relaxed but focused atmosphere, happy positive challenge and the chance to meet and make new friends. It’s fun, interesting and it should ultimately improve your running.
