The Runner’s Mind & Body
This inspiring weekend for women is about taking a look at ourselves as runners and how we attend to our bodies and our minds to support ourselves. We need to sustain a resilient, flexible and fit body and a good mental approach. Whether it’s a lack of confidence, overtraining or under-training or a resistance to making changes, we take a good, close look at many of the issues that we have to balance.
This weekend is a combination of indoor and outdoor sessions with four specialists – a combination of presentations and runs, discussion and reflection. We hope you’ll enjoy seeing things from different perspectives and, as ever, we hope that laughter, sharing and connection are a big part of the weekend.
It’s our aim that you’ll leave inspired and with much personal ‘food for thought’ as well as having some wonderful runs in the beautiful landscape of the National Park around the Black Mountains.
- There will be three differently focused runs as part of the weekend; most importantly, you run at your own speed and level and the weekend has been specifically designed for this.
- A GP will be presenting on her new research into pain – a fascinating insight into something that affects us all, especially as runners.
- We’ll be exploring training and touching into nutrition
- There’ll be a presentation on our mental approach to running and unhelpful pitfalls that we are all pulled towards.
- Discussion will happen as an ongoing part of the weekend but there’ll also be a designated structured discussion session.
- There’ll be a practical session on soft tissue and releasing tension.
Who Is This Weekend For?
This weekend is for any active, thinking women who have running as part of their lives. It is for women who’d like a connective, nurturing, confidence-building, thought-provoking, life-affirming weekend away to reflect on some different perspectives.
We offer a relaxed but focused atmosphere with happy positive challenge and the chance to connect with others. Expect the usual Element attention to detail, purpose, quality and enjoyment.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. This is a weekend aimed at active, open-minded women who are keen to explore, discuss and connect. It’s sometimes hard to book on your own but there will be other people who have booked solo, and you’ll find a warm inclusive welcome if you do.
A nutritious lunch on both days is included as are beverages and snacks throughout the weekend. On Saturday night we book a group table for you all to eat at the local pub; it’s not compulsory to go if you’d prefer to do something else!
Bunkhouse: Llwyn Celyn, our venue, has a bunkhouse. It’s nicely done by the Landmark Trust and is modern, communal accommodation with the use of a well-equipped kitchen, showers and your own single bed. You’ll need to bring bedding and a pillow if you opt for this. The bunkhouse is available Friday and Saturday night at £25 a night. Please email Ruth@element-active.co.uk if you would like to book a place. Places are limited so let Ruth know when you book.
Because accommodation and how you like to sleep and your budget are such personal matters, we find it works better for people to choose where they would like to stay. We will send you our accommodation list on booking. We’ve built up a directory of accommodation in the area, from yurts to shepherd’s huts, from farmhouse B&B’s to top-end luxury hotels, catering for all budgets.
Campervan: Campervan parking can be arranged at Llwyn Celyn, and you’ll be able to use the kitchen, showers and toilet facilities. We ask for a £10 a night for this. Again, please email Ruth if this is what you would like to do.
Cancellation policy: If you have to drop out, we will refund you (minus a £50 administration fee + Stripe processing fees) if you cancel two months prior to the event. Anything after that date is non-refundable. We will happily accept a replacement if you find someone else to take your place. We are a small company and we run courses, employ tutors and book venues on a minimum number for the weekend being reached.[/vc_column_text]
