Savour the delights of wilder running. On this unique Fell Running and Yoga Weekend for Women we combine quality coaching for you to gain enjoyment and confidence to run the hills as well as incorporating the positive, complimentary role of yoga. This is for active women who have done some off-road running and it’s all in one of the most stunning locations in the UK
The Weekend: The running sessions will be challenging in a positive way but most importantly are structured for you to be able to work at the level you choose. We always have a spectrum of fitness and inclusivity sits at the heart of what we offer and how we structure our sessions. There’s something for the speedy people and no one gets left behind; there is no external pressure to ‘perform’ beyond where you are comfortable.
No previous yoga experience is necessary.
The weekend will begin on Saturday morning at 9am and end on Sunday afternoon between 4.30pm and 5pm.There will be two long yoga sessions during the weekend and three very differently focused fell running sessions. We will be looking at technique, having an enjoyable run on the fells as well as getting you to run a route where you take responsibility for getting round!
A nutritious homemade vegetarian (with vegan option) lunch will be included on both days/ There’s access to teas, coffee and snacks throughout the weekend. If you have personal complex dietary requirements, it would be appreciated if you bring your own lunch and dip into what we provide where suitable.
We’ll send you an email with further information on the weekend and what to bring 3-weeks before you come.
Is This Weekend For Me? This is a weekend aimed at active, open-minded women who are keen to explore their potential and fell-running more fully and who want to explore how yoga complements the active body; women who are interested to learn from top-quality advice and who are keen to develop. If you’ve done Element’s Beginning Fell Running Day, this is the perfect follow-on. If you’ve run on trails and would like to explore fell running, this will be highly suitable for you. If you’re a competent runner looking to get off-road more, this weekend is also for you. If you’re an active runner but have never used yoga as part of your ‘tool box’ then you’ll get a great deal from this weekend.
Those of you who have done courses with Ruth before know that we work towards inclusivity and confidence building. Talk yourself into rather than out of this if you’re interested, and if you’re in any doubt about your ability to attend, just email Ruth and ask (Ruth@element-active.co.uk).
Can I come on my own? Yes – absolutely. There will be other people who have booked solo and we’ve had some really nice friendships sparking during the weekend. It’s sometimes hard to book on your own but you’ll have a very warm inclusive welcome and won’t be alone on this weekend if you do.
Yoga Equipment: You will need to bring a yoga mat. Please also bring a belt and two bricks if you have them. We can order you a yoga mat if you don’t have one (£25 – let Ruth know) and can loan bricks and belts.
Where: We will be based at Llwyn Celyn, a wonderful historic 15th-century house recently restored by the Landmark Trust and sited in the spectacular Llanthony Valley. We will use Llwyn Celyn’s light and airy beautifully restored barn for yoga and we will be using the hills close to our venue for the running.
The postcode of the venue is NP7 7NE – we will send full information and details on later.
Accommodation: Because accommodation, how you like to sleep and your budget are such personal matters, we find it works better for people to choose where they would like to stay. We give you this choice – there’s a simple (but tastefully done) small bunkhouse at the venue and we will send you our accommodation list on booking. Over the years, we have built up a directory of trusted accommodation in the area, from yurts to shepherd’s huts, from farmhouse B&Bs to top-end luxury hotels, catering for all budgets.
Bunkhouse: Llwyn Celyn, our venue, has a bunkhouse, which can sleep 6 people comfortably. It’s nicely done, modern, communal accommodation with the use of a well-equipped kitchen, showers and your own single bed – you’ll need to bring bedding and pillow. The bunkhouse is available Friday and Saturday night at £25 a night. Please email Ruth@element-active.co.uk if you would like to a place – if 6 people have already booked I’m afraid it’s full.
Campervan: The parking of a campervan can be arranged at Llwyn Celyn – you’ll be able to use the showers, toilet facilities and kitchen – we ask for a £10.00 a night contribution if you’re doing this. Please let Ruth know if this is what you intend doing.
Camping: There is a good campsite 4-miles up the road – details are on our accommodation list.
Saturday Evening: No one gets left alone on Saturday evening – unless they want that! Some people come with friends and book to eat out on Saturday. For others and people coming on their own we help gather groups and make a local pub reservation or if you’d prefer to form a group and cook at the venue we advise where to shop.
A list of local restaurants with details will be sent out with the accommodation when booking.
Covid: In this new and changing landscape that we find ourselves in, we would like to reassure you that our weekend will be Covid secure in line with the guidance we receive. If we cannot go ahead, you will always be offered a rescheduled date or a full refund – and the choice is yours.
If you have to drop out, we will refund you (minus a £50 administration fee) if you cancel two months prior to the event. Anything after that date is non-refundable. However, we will happily accept a replacement if you find someone else to take your place and we might have a wait list for the weekend.
We are a small company and we run courses, employ tutors and book venues on a minimum number being reached.
