Savour the delights of wilder running in the hills.
On this unique Fell Running Weekend for Women, we combine quality coaching for you to gain confidence and enjoyment to run the hills. And there’s a long yoga session to unwind on Saturday.
We’ll teach you what you need to know about all aspects of the sport of fell running in one of the most stunning locations in the UK.
It’s instructive but more importantly, it’s INSPIRING!
Is it for me?
This weekend is for any active women who have running as part of their lives and who’d like a connective, nurturing, confidence-building, thought-provoking, life-affirming weekend away running in the hills. If you run on roads and would like to explore fell running, this weekend is for you; if you simply love being in nature and running, this will ‘tick your box’.
As a guide, if you can run 5k+ and have an appetite for taking yourself off-road, you’ll be fine. We ALWAYS have a spectrum of fitness and inclusivity sits at the heart of what we offer and how we structure our sessions. There are options around what we do in each session, and we do not go out running all day. There is no external pressure to ‘perform’ beyond where you are comfortable. The only person you’re competing against on this weekend is yourself. The running sessions will be challenging in a positive way but most importantly are structured for you to be able to work at the level you choose. This whole carefully developed weekend is about giving you an immersive enjoyable and inspiring experience in the hills.
There will be one long yoga session at the end of Saturday’s runs.
You are welcome to arrive on Friday. Our weekend will begin on Saturday morning at 9am and end on Sunday afternoon between 4.30pm and 5pm.
Food: We cater vegetarian with vegan options on both days for lunch. We take care to cater good quality, healthy food. On Saturday evening we make a table reservation for you all at a local pub (it’s not obligatory to eat out and if you don’t want to that’s fine). Snacks, teas and coffees are available throughout the weekend.
Expect the usual Element attention to care, quality, purpose and detail on the weekend.
Accommodation: How you like to sleep as well as people’s budgets tend to differ so we offer a range of options for you:
Bunkhouse: Llwyn Celyn, our venue, has a bunkhouse. It’s nicely done, modern, communal accommodation with the use of a well-equipped kitchen, showers and your own single bed – you’ll need to bring duvet and pillow. The bunkhouse is available Friday and Saturday night at £25 a night. Please email Ruth@element-active.co.uk if you would like to a place.
For those who would prefer to stay locally, we’ll send you our accommodation list when you book – lots of lovely places to stay in the vicinity.
Campervan: The parking of a campervan and use of facilities is £15.00 a night contribution if you’re doing this. Please email Ruth@element-active.co.uk if you would like to a place.
Where: We will be based at Llwyn Celyn, a wonderful historic 15th-century house recently restored by the Landmark Trust and sited in the spectacular Llanthony Valley. We will use Llwyn Celyn’s light and airy beautifully restored barn for yoga and we will be using the hills close to our venue for the running. The postcode of the venue is NP7 7NE – we will send full information and details on later.
Can I come on my own? Absolutely and we encourage this. This is a weekend aimed at active, open-minded women who are keen to explore, discuss and connect. It’s sometimes hard to book on your own but there will be other people who have booked solo and you’ll find a warm inclusive welcome if you do.
Cancellation policy: If you have to drop out, we will refund you (minus a £50 administration fee + Stripe processing fees) if you cancel two months prior to the event. Anything after that date is non-refundable. We will happily accept a replacement if you find someone else to take your place. We are a small company and we run courses, employ tutors and book venues on a minimum number for the weekend being reached.
