Description: You’d like to get out and into some wilder country but feel that you don’t have the map skills or full confidence to stride out alone. You’d like to become more at ease with planning a walk and using an Ordnance Survey map.
This is a great day walk for you.
There will be the chance to have a map and be guided to follow our progress at various intervals when we are out walking all day in beautiful mountain country.
You will get a personal colour, laminated copy of the map area where we are walking and we will be stopping to check out features along the route.
This isn’t a day where we are ‘teaching’ navigation skills and spending all day with our ‘heads in the map’ and grappling with a compass – but it is a day where you get the chance to understand where we are and to be talked through features so you begin to understand and feel more confident with maps and route planning.
We will be walking a mountain as part of the route. The walking is not technically rough and if you have a basic level of walking fitness you will be able to undertake the day.
We will walk at a steady pace with plenty of stops.
It’s a beautiful time of year and we have all day and will aim to make the most of this.
This isn’t a mountain marathon and we will be enjoying the walk, nature and the landscape too.
We will be starting our day at:
The Dragon’s Head, Llangenny near Crickhowell (NP8 1HD)
Meet at 9.30 am with time for an initial chat about the day.
We will be out walking by 10.15 am.
And, there’s the option of a well-earned drink at a pub at the end of the walk!
Llangenny is easily reached from Bristol and Cardiff – it’s very close to Crickhowell.
You will receive further specific details on booking.
