This 2-day weekend is all about getting out into some wilder mountain terrain for longer days. It’s an ideal progression if you’ve done the Beginning Fell Running course or if you’d like two longer days in the hills with a small group. We will not be running for two days – we’ll be walking but covering ground (perhaps easily and comfortably jogging some of the downhills) – and ‘time on your feet’ is an excellent way to build strength and endurance.
Ruth will be your guide for the weekend with assistant on two brilliant routes with lots of ‘added extra information’ as well as map and navigation as you go.
A massage on Saturday is also included at your overnight accommodation.
Long day in the hills 12-13 miles, partially on a fell race route with map (provided). We will cover some basic navigation while out and on the move. We’ll be mainly walking (we might comfortably jog some downhills) but will be covering ground.
There’s a fantastic wild swimming place on the river Usk near the accommodation so if it’s wonderfully warm (or even if it’s not!) we’ll factor this in at some point during the weekend for anyone who is keen.
Massage later on Saturday at the accommodation.
Great pub across the road for the evening or stay in and cook. Your choice.
Breakfast will be provided for you on Sunday morning as will food for the day on Sunday.
A slightly shorter day in the hills (8 miles) but still building on navigation, hills and also partly on a fell race route.
Element takes over the whole of the accommodation so there will only be our group in.
It’s called a Bunkhouse but it’s more like a homely B&B. There’s a good kitchen, separate bedrooms, a living room, dining room and car parking. No more than two people per room. Separate beds – some are doubles.
Location is Bwlch just outside Crickhowell. Bedding is provided.
Cost of the weekend:
£150 per person (based on two people per room)
- Accommodation Saturday night
- 2 hill days (Ruth + assistant)
- Beer and wine at accommodation
- Breakfast on Sunday
- Lunch food for Sunday
I prefer to work with small groups and an emphasis on quality – it’s more fun, there’s much more cohesion, conversation and connection and much more learning. This is a small group of 10.
Please email Ruth@element-active.co.uk for a booking form and payment details.
As soon as you return this to me and have made payment your place on the weekend is assured.
