Grading of any walk or outdoor activity is always subjective.
We use a 1 – 5 grading system.
1 = A relaxed experience with ample time to appreciate attractions along the route.
2 = Daily distances increase on some days and the terrain may be rugged underfoot with some undulating hills but not too strenuous.
3 = For regular walkers or cyclists, some days will be more challenging than others and the terrain will be varied with perhaps some rugged footpaths. More ascent and descent involved.
4 = More challenging with some long walking days and often a longer trip duration where carrying a pack might be necessary. It might be occasionally rocky with some prolonged climbs and steep hills.
5 = Long days and challenging ascents/descents often carrying a pack. A good level of fitness and former experience is required.
We have taken into account the terrain, distance, height gain, level of intensity and sustained active ‘hours’ to arrive at a grade for each adventure.
The detailed description of each event also contains information on what to expect. On some events there will be optional activities for people requiring more challenge.
