If you love the idea of being able to run in the mountains but have never started, then this is the perfect course.

Tutored by highly experienced women fell runners who are passionate about getting more women to enjoy this sport, this is a well-structured, confidence-building day/weekend introducing you to fell running and giving you some time to assimilate and put into practise what you’re learning.

It’s a practical mix of outdoor running sessions as well as indoor seminars, presentations and discussion. There’s the chance to deal with your insecurities and help you to work on your perceived weaknesses and we’ll be giving you some enthusiastic ‘can-do’ attitude.

We will cover all the various elements of fell running from technique, mental approach and confidence to looking at kit, equipment and races that you might try. We’ll introduce you to route finding and finding your way in the hills. You’ll be out in nature and feeling the elements with the exhilarating experience of leaving your world-worries behind. We’re based at the entrance to the LLanthony Valley with gorgeous running terrain all around.

Most importantly, this is a programme where you work at your chosen level, and we get you to find your ‘off road’ feet. We’ve had over 500 women through this programme aged from 16 to 70. Rest assured, this is not about speed, discomfort, competitiveness or running straight up a mountain as soon as you arrive. We hope that you’ll feel positively challenged but you choose the level that you work at.

The weekend course is more immersive with more chance to practise and work on your skills and we get you out more fully into some wider landscape. The day course is obviously shorter but a brilliant taster.

We were lucky enough to be featured in a Guardian Article:

Who is this weekend for?

This weekend is for any women runners who would like to understand and experience fell running and who would like to enjoy the freedom of running in the hills. We imagine that you will have done some running and that you are able to jog 5k continuously as minimum. You might be a more experienced runner but have never tried fell running. Your speed doesn’t matter, and the weekend has been designed to cover and provide for all abilities.

Get your friends together or a group from your running club.

Accommodation:  If you are coming for the weekend we have a list of local accommodation – and we can  recommend a couple of places for groups.
