There’s something very special and restorative about completing a journey. This two-day guided mountain bike ride is on gorgeous rideable trails in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It encompasses the stunning lesser-known parts of the Black Mountains. Your luggage is transported to an overnight B&B stay and a pub is booked for your group evening meal. Expect superb, manageable riding, incredible views and ‘good craic’ all round.
This guided weekend is all about taking you on a journey on two wheels into the wild, stunning Black Mountains. Expect fantastic views, great trails, long, sweeping descents, good bikeable climbs and, of course, a dash of positive challenge.
Accommodation: We take over the whole of our accommodation venue on Saturday night so that there is more than enough space for us (6 bedrooms – some very large – lots of beds). There’s a kitchen and we will book a table for you to eat as a group at the wonderful pub with great food directly across the road. Breakfast will be provided as will the ingredients for a packed lunch on the Sunday.
We will also send you a list of local accommodation if you wish to stay in the area on the Friday night.
Who is the weekend for? You will be expected to be able to ride a mountain bike. The terrain will not be technical (no jumps, no big drops, no scary descents) but you need to be happy riding a bike for the day – with breaks included of course. We work as a group and the focus is not speed but inclusivity. If you’ve done Element’s Beginning Mountain Biking Weekend, then this is a natural progression. It is for women who are interested in the outdoors, love cycling and who are keen to challenge themselves and connect with others in a small-group environment. June in the Black Mountains is very special – the days are long, the flowers abundant and the birds active. It’s wonderful to celebrate this before it passes.
If you are keen to come but have any questions about whether this weekend is for you, please email: Ruth@element-active.co.uk
Can I come on my own? Absolutely! Many of our guests come solo and we’ve had some lovely friendships made during these weekends.
Can I hire a mountain bike? Yes – we can hire a bike for you for 2 days. We charge you what we have to pay the hire company which is £35 a day (includes helmet). Your bike will be waiting for you on arrival. Please email Ruth: Ruth@element-active.co.uk if you’d like to hire a bike.
Covid: In this new and changing landscape, we can reassure you that our weekend will be Covid secure in line with the current guidance. If we cannot go ahead, you will be offered a rescheduled date or a full refund – the choice is yours.
If you drop out from the weekend course after booking, we will refund you (minus a £50 administration fee) if you cancel two months prior to the event. Anything after that date is non-refundable. However, we will happily accept a replacement if you find someone else to take your place and we often have a waiting list.
We are a small company and we run courses, employ tutors and book venues on a minimum number being reached. We reserve the right to cancel should this number not be reached and would offer you a full refund etc?
“I loved the way you stressed paying attention to where we were, to the landscapes and the other living beings that live there – rather than just treating the habitats we were riding through as a sort of green gym for our personal development purposes – this really enhanced the rides for me.” Kate
“Thank you for your attention to detail – nice T-bags were noted to name one of a few things. Cold beers in the fridge also great touch, great value for £ – not often I get to say that! Perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism.” Storme
“I can’t tell you how wonderful this weekend was. It has stirred my sense of adventure and it has awoken my self belief. What magic you have mustered.” Liz
